The Southern History of Education Society (SHOES) host annual conference.

Atlanta, GA – The Southern History of Education Society (SHOES) conference is returning to its birthplace: Georgia State University in downtown Atlanta.  The conference will take place on Friday, March 18, and Saturday March 19, 2022, at the College of Education and Human Development, 30 Pryor Street, 30303.

Following in the tradition at SHOES, there is no registration fee, but registration is requested to plan accordingly. To register, please complete this online form.

The conference includes a social gathering on Friday, March 17, at 7 pm on the 6th floor terrace of the GSU Law School, 85 Park Place. Food will be provided as well as a cash bar for purchasing beer and wine.

Session Proposal Submission Form

Please consider presenting your research, narrative history, or historical theory at our conference! We welcome papers from graduate students, junior scholars, and senior scholars, as well as works-in-progress. The submission process asks for an abstract of at least 300 words that summarizes your scholarship. To submit, follow this link.  Submissions are due January 31, 2022.
