Dear HES Membership:
I hope this email finds you and yours safe and healthy in this historic moment. We acknowledge and appreciate the ways that you’ve had to adjust to increasing responsibilities these past few weeks. Many of you are also extending care to elderly loved ones, tending to youngsters, and homeschooling while managing work at home.
In the “typical” moment we would be detailing plans for a face-to-face conference in Baltimore while you put the final touches on conference proposals and prepare initial travel itineraries. But this is not a typical moment. The HES Board recently convened and decided that a conversation with the membership about the HES conference was warranted. Along with the HES Program Chair and Vice-President, I would like to invite you to an “HES Town Hall” on Monday, April 20th from 5:30-6:30 CST to discuss two main issues:
- The likelihood of you submitting a proposal for the 2020 HES Annual Meeting by May 15th
- The likelihood of you, at this juncture, traveling to Baltimore, MD in early November for the annual HES meeting
Members of the Board will provide additional information to guide our collective conversation to produce an HES conference that will be as dynamic, engaging and inclusive as it has always been.
In the meantime, please take a brief moment to complete a two-question survey at the following site: https://surveys.illinois.edu/sec/1952216
We realize the HES conference might not be foremost on your minds, but your insights regarding this time-sensitive matter will be greatly appreciated.
In gratitude,
Yoon (Pres.) and Chris (Vice Pres.)
