The History of Education Society Board of Directors is accepting nominations for the office of Treasurer. The Treasurer fulfills a critical role in the Society, and sits as a member of the Board of Directors. The incoming Treasurer will shadow the current Treasurer beginning in November 2018 in advance of a three-year term of office that will commence in November 2019.

Here is the description of the office as articulated in the HES Constitution:

2.9        Duties of the Treasurer.  The Treasurer shall be elected by the Board of Directors for a three year term, renewable for subsequent terms.  As the chief financial officer, the Treasurer oversees expenditures, creates budgets, monitors and makes investments, and prepares state and federal tax returns.  The Treasurer will periodically review the financial condition of the History of Education Quarterly.  Additional tasks include chairing the Development Committee, serving as registrar for the annual meeting, overseeing the HES website, and advising the officers on legal matters, including hotel contracts and the History of Education Quarterly contract with an outside publisher.
