This award recognizes the most outstanding book on the history of education published during the previous year. Please ask your publishers to nominate and send your book to the committee for consideration.
Call for Submissions:
This award recognizes the most outstanding book on the history of education published during the previous year. This includes work on schooling as well as educational institutions and processes more broadly. Only books copyrighted in 2025 are eligible for consideration for the 2026 prize.
Criteria used to evaluate the books include:
- Originality of the study;
- Thoroughness of the research/scholarship;
- Contributions to the field;
- Stylistic fluidity and narrative quality; and
- Potential for lasting impact on the history of education.
The committee will not accept e-book submissions. Self-nominations are welcome. To be considered, review copies of nominated books must be received by all committee members at the addresses listed below no later than April 15, 2026.
